FSHS honored during LPPS Recognition of Excellence


French Settlement High School support staff of the year Tijuana Martinex (left), student of the year Emma Gaudet (2nd from left), principal John Chewning and teacher of the year Daniel Brown (right) were recognized by LPPS during a ceremony on March 28.

French Settlement High School was recognized during the 2023 Livingston Parish Public Schools Recognition of Excellence program.


Students of the Year Laney Wilson (8th grade) and Emma Gaudet (12th grade) were recognized.


Teacher of the Year Daniel Brown (Digital Media & Web Design) and Support Staff of the Year Tijuana Martinez was also honored during the event.


FSHS Principal John Chewning also accepted honors on behalf of the school for being named a Louisiana Comeback Campus in math, having the highest strength of diploma index and for being named an Opportunity Honoree school.


FSHS received an 'A' score from the LDOE and is ranked third among high schools in the parish. For the second year in a row, FSHS was recognized with an 'A' in strength of diploma, ranking first in the district. The school's ranking also makes the school's strength of diploma the strongest in the state.
