French Settlement High School students are getting an up-close and personal look at patient care.
Students enrolled in Mrs. Alicia Roshto's patient care tech class were introduced to the basic phlebotomy skills of applying a tourniquet in preparation to collect a blood sample.
Roshto, a FSHS alumni, is preparing students for a nursing career using her experience as a registered nurse.
Students practiced phlebotomy skills on each other with Roshto's guidance.
Similarly, medical terminology students are learning how lungs work. Students enrolled in Roshto's class made modules of the lungs to show how they expand when you take a breath.
